The pair starred together in the 1988 film and things apparently got painful during an intimate scene!
Tom Cruise is a perfect gentleman, both on and off-screen.
This according to Gina Gershon, who co-starred with Cruise in his 1988 film Cocktail, playing a love interest of the actor”s playboy bartender. During Gershon”s latest appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the actress appeared alongside Borderlands co-star Cate Blanchett and was quizzed by Cohen about whether or not she also had any off-screen hookups with Cruise.
“Do you think I would actually answer that?” Gershon answered with a laugh.
To be fair, the Showgirls star admitted, Cruise was newly married at the time — to his first wife, actress Mimi Rogers — and she was “very present” on set.
“We did kiss as much as we could,” she admitted. “It was like, ”Should we kiss [in this scene]? Oh, yeah, I think we should.””
Gershon also shared that her love scene with Cruise in the film was her first ever, noting that he “totally” took care of her — even when things got particularly painful.
“I told him at one point — he starts off like, under the covers — and I told him I was very ticklish… In one take, I think he wanted reaction and he grabbed my stomach and I kneed him right in the nose.”
“I was like, ”Oh my God, I just broke Tom Cruise”s nose!”” she recalled with a laugh. “And he was like, ”No, no, you told me”… He was so protective over me.”
After divorcing Rogers in 1990, Cruise was married to Days of Thunder and Eyes Wide Shut co-star Nicole Kidman from 1990-2001. He was later in a relationship with Vanilla Sky co-star Penelope Cruz from 2001-04, and was married to Katie Holmes from 2005-12.
