Kylie Jenner gave a revealing interview in the latest issue of British ”Vogue.”
Kylie Jenner has some advice for future mothers-to-be: pick your baby”s name before the hormones take over.
The 27-year-old makeup mogul shared that piece of advice in a revealing British Vogue profile, in which she revealed that her 2-year-old son, Aire, actually had a third name before she ultimately landed on Aire, who was born on Feb. 2, 2022. As fans will remember, Kylie and ex Travis Scott had previously named their baby boy Wolf Jacques Webster.
But she later filed to have her son”s name legally changed in June 2023 to Aire. At the time, Jenner explained she felt a lot of pressure in the hospital to pick a name, adding that her sister, Khloe Kardashian, had suggested Wolf Webster and Jenner had liked the alliteration. However, she later felt the name didn’t suit her son, and eventually changed it to Aire.
Fast forward to now, Jenner explains that her prolonged postpartum depression lasted a year with her and Scott”s 6-year-old daughter, Stormi, and with Aire.
“Mentally, it”s really hard. Hormonally, it”s really hard. I didn”t know how to dress,” she told the fashion magazine. “It hit me differently both times. Probably with my son it was major baby blues, so I was just so emotional over things that I probably wouldn”t be that emotional about [typically]. On the phone with my mom all day hysterically crying, saying, ”I can”t figure out his name.” Now my advice to all my friends having children is pick the name before, because when the hormones hit you can”t make decisions. You can”t. When I met him, he was just the most beautiful thing to me and I couldn”t believe just how perfect he was. I felt like such a failure that I couldn”t name him. He deserved so much more than that. It just really triggered me.”
Jenner said it took her a year to settle on Aire. But before Aire he was Knight.
“My son”s name was actually Knight for a long time and my daughter, still to this day, is like, ”Do you remember when Aire”s name was Knight?’”And I”m like … ”No.” And she”s like, ”That was so funny, Mom. I like Knight better.” And I”m like: ”You know what, we are not doing this again.””
But in that moment of reflection, Jenner says she can look back and now realize she”s herself again.
“I”m going to be 27, and I”m finally feeling like myself again, and [looking back] I think, being pregnant, I wore sweatpants every day, I didn”t have time to figure out even some of the little things in my life, and then postpartum lasted a year,” said the model who turned 27 on Saturday.
Elsewhere in the interview, Jenner said she cried when she got the call from British Vogue that she would be the first Kardashian-Jenner to land on the cover.
“I am?” she asked. “Not Kendall?”
