Pax Jolie-Pitt, the son of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, was involved in a scary accident on his e-bike last week.
Pax Jolie-Pitt, the 20-year-old son of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, is on the mend following a severe head injury from an electric bike accident in Los Angeles last week.
“Pax has been released from the ICU,” a close friend of the family tells ET. “He suffered complex trauma, and now begins the long road of recovery and physical therapy.”
ET has learned that the Maleficent star is by her son”s side amid his healing journey and that his siblings have been helpful.
Brad and Angelina share three biological children — 18-year-old Shiloh and 15-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox — as well as three adopted children, sons Maddox, 22, and Pax, 20, and daughter Zahara, 19.
“Pax and Angelina are deeply grateful for the quick and life-saving action of first responders, and the outstanding medical care he received,” the family friend adds.
TMZ was first to report that Pax was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and was rushed to a hospital for treatment after suffering a head injury and experiencing hip pain. The outlet stated on July 29, the same day of the accident, that he was stable and expected to return home quickly.
According to the LAPD, paramedics were called to an accident at Hobart and Los Feliz Boulevard around 5 p.m. after an e-bike rear ended a vehicle that was stopped at a red light. The e-bike rider was then transported to a local hospital with a severe head injury but was conscious and alert.
There is said to be no DUI or hit and run criminal element to the incident.
A source close to the matter told ET that Angelina was with Pax at the hospital and that he was “stable.”
ET has reached out to Jolie”s team for comment.
Pax”s accident comes amid sister Shiloh”s legal proceedings to drop “Pitt” from her hyphenated surname.
Shiloh first submitted the paperwork requesting the legal name change on May 27, the day she celebrated her milestone 18th birthday. Before that, Zahara appeared to lose the “Pitt” surname when she introduced herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie” during a ceremony event for the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.
Vivienne followed suit more recently. She and her famous mother co-produced the Broadway production of The Outsiders, on which Vivienne was credited as “Vivienne Jolie.” The mother-daughter duo won a Tony Award for their work on The Outsiders.
A source later told ET that Shiloh “hired her own lawyer and paid for it herself.”
As for Brad”s reaction to Shiloh”s attempt to drop his last name, a source told ET last month that “Brad has always loved being a father and loves his children.”
Meanwhile, it was revealed last month that both Angelina and Brad will showcase new movies at the upcoming 2024 Venice Film Festival.
The 81st annual Venice International Film Festival, which kicks off Aug. 28 and ends Sept. 7 in Italy, revealed its star-studded lineup of new movies on July 23. Among the titles announced were Brad”s Wolfs and Angelina”s Maria.
