Tatum, 44, walked the carpet at the premiere of his new film, Fly Me to the Moon, in New York City on Monday, where he spoke with ET about the underappreciated comedic talents of both Johansson, 39, and Kravitz, 35. “They actually worked together,” Tatum said, referring to their 2017 comedy Rough Night. “That movie was actually really underratedly funny. Like, I don’t think I saw it when it came out and then I went back and saw it later, and the movie’s really funny!”

“Scarlett”s very, very funny. Weirdly, they”re both very funny, but don”t get the credit for being funny,” Tatum added. “Zoë and Scarlett, because they”re so beautiful, people just go, ”We”re gonna hire you for that.” Or, ”We”re gonna look at you as that and you”re not allowed to be anything else.””
“But they”re very, very, very funny,” he added. “Zoë”s one of the funniest people I know, so it”s great.” Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum attend the world premiere of ”Fly Me to the Moon” at AMC Lincoln Square in New York on July 8, 2024. – CHARLY TRIBALLEAU/AFP via Getty Images
Kravitz and Tatum first sparked dating rumors in August 2021 after they met while working on her film, Blink Twice. ET first learned in late October 2023 that the Magic Mike star and the Batman actress had gotten engaged.
Kravitz”s romance with Tatum is her first since her public split from ex-husband Karl Glusman. The two ended their relationship after 18 months of marriage in 2021.
Tatum was previously married to his Step Up co-star, Jenna Dewan, from 2009 to 2019, and they share daughter Everly, 11.
As a matter of fact, Tatum said that his romantic history was one of the things that he found a connection in when it came to working with Johansson on Fly Me to the Moon.
When asked about the reason behind their instant chemistry, Tatum told ET, “We tried to figure it out, but I think we”ve chalked it up to we have a lot of similar life experiences.”
“We both have siblings. She”s got a brother, I got a sister, so that was immediately just like the teasing and… I was just messing with her from jump,” Tatum said with a laugh. “Then we both, you know, we both got kids, both been divorced, like the whole thing. So it was easy! It was just really, really easy.”
Johansson is mom to two children, 2-year-old son Cosmo, whom she shares with husband Colin Jost, and 9-year-old daughter Rose, whom she shares with ex-husband Romain Dauriac.
“She”s everything that you think she”s gonna be: smart, beautiful, talented,” Tatum said of his co-star. “It”s really frustrating!”
“She kind of lulls you into like a bit of a false sense of security… you forget that she”s Scarlett Johansson and been doing this, you know, since she was a baby, and also she”s the biggest movie star in the world,” he added. “It”s just so cool to get to work with her.”
Their new ”60s-set flick follows a marketing executive (Johansson) and a NASA official (Tatum) as he makes preparations for the Apollo 11 moon landing. Fly Me to the Moon hits theaters July 12.
